Biography
Utoquai is the singer-songwriter project of Philipp Koller. Born in 1975 (February 14th) in Zurich, Philipp has been playing the piano since he was a little boy. Right from the beginning he composed his own melodies. The film Amadeus, the biography of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, had a great impact on him and let him sketch classical arrangements as a teenager. Meanwhile he was the keyboarder and lead singer of the hard rock band "Evoé".
Today Utoquai stands for well arranged pop with a lot of rhythm, powerful drums as well as catchy melodies and lyrics. Each song arises from a piano composition by Philipp. Utoquai's first single "little song" is a feel good piece with funky drums and bassline. It starts just with a classic guitar riff and ends with a powerful big band.
The name "Utoquai" finally refers to a location at the lake basin in Zurich. It is a beautiful and versatile getaway for individuals with their thoughts, joys, plans or fears before their next appointment. And this is what the music of Utoquai is about. Music from the heart of Zurich for individuals on their way through live in the whole wide world.
