Biography

"The Id represents primary process thinking, our most

primitive, need-gratification impulses. It is organized around

the primitive instinctual drives of sexuality and aggression.

In the id, these drives require instant gratification or release."

Swollen Id (prounounced "id" and NOT "aiydee") was born upon the unlikely encounter of its three members at the University of Geneva, Switzerland. After using subtle persuasion in the form of a rough demo, Nick R. managed to get Andy and Nico B. to jam with him.

The band was born as the result of a common love for Iron Maiden, Rush and other classic 80's acts, more modern bands like Muse and SOAD, and a need to produce a heavy but accessible brand of high energy rock. Ok, we're lying, we just wanted an excuse to get onstage and act like we ruled the universe...

The three members spent most of 2005 rehearsing, composing and honing their chops, before locking themselves up in their home studio (Andy's crib in the Valais, thats deep deep in the mountains...) to produce their first demo. It was released towards the beginning of 2006, coinciding with the bands live debut at Plainpalais (Geneva).

After having made an explosive appearance at Piment Rouge (notorious Geneva rock club) in April, the band has decided to take a short break to further develop its sound and prepare another demo for the rock hungry freaks that you are.

Expect some more action towards the end of the summer.
