SOFA - as catchy as jazz can be!

The jazz-funk combo SOFA already grooved successfully in the 1980’s. Since 1987, they’ve been sorely missed. But no more! A 2018-injection of fresh blood finally resurrects the band. Still with intoxicating melodies above fascinating harmonies - the famous SOFA recipe!

The original SOFA line-up got up to speed in 1983, and soon chalked-up a notable presence on stage and in the media: at major open-airs like The St.Gallen Festival as well as numerous clubs. Their televised performance at the 1983 Montreux Jazz Festival established SOFA as a major name on the Swiss music scene. That busy year also saw the release of their top-selling 12”- single “33/45”, uniquely designed to play at both 33 and 45 RPM. The years up to 1987 saw a varying SOFA line-up touring in Denmark, Holland and Germany, and releasing two further albums, “Take a Seat” and “Midnight Shuffle”.

2015 saw the two-year “Reloaded” tour, mixing old favourites from the 80s with newer material. Markus, Tosho and Florian all agreed: there's too much good stuff here, to stop now. Greg Galli and Eric Hunziker proved to be the perfect additions to the line-up, revitalising and augmenting the typical, authentic SOFA sound.
