MUSICIANS :
ANNEKE SLEVEN (voice) : Anneke has a dynamic personality and loves to express herself through different types of music.Born in Belgium, she began her piano studies at the private music school, OpusArtis, in the class of Stephane de May while continuing her dance studies (classical and jazz) at the dancestudio of Nicole de Lauwer. Her passion for music and dance allowed her to enter the Kunsthumaniora in Brussels where she also discovered the saxophone and her voice for the first time. She had the privilege to work at the Vlaamse Opera in Antwerp and Ghent during her studies, as a dancer in multiple operas with directors Robert Carson and Guy Joosten. She graduated in music education in 2003 and started teaching music and creating musical shows for children from 10 to 14 years old. In 2006 her acting skills were discovered by Walter Tillemans, director from Antwerp and founder of the Raamtheater. She performed various roles in the great classics of Shakespeare and Molière, as well as in a more modern repertoire of Hugo Claus. In 2012 she knew her biggest success in the role of Edith Piaf in the musical Edith et Simone by Ronny Verheyen. She moved to France in 2014 and currently works as an event coordinator and administration for Les Amis de l’Orchestre de la Suisse Romande all the while maintaining a very active artistic career.
MAURICIO SALAMANCA (saxophones). Saxophonist with a degree in pedagogy, interpretation and chamber music from the Haute Ecole de Musique de Genève. Founding member of the Bogota saxophone quartet, invited to the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, the Bogota Philharmonic Orchestra, the Camérata Venia, the Vortex Ensemble, the Mercadonegro Orchestra, etc.. Musician and musical director of Palenque la Papayera, saxophonist of the Big up Band, of the Saxas quartet, of the LatinEuropean project and conductor of the BBDR Big band, formations with which he has been invited to different international festivals as the Jazz Plaza in Havana-Cuba, the International Festival of Chamber Music in Manizales-Colombia, the series of concerts in the Bolivar hall in London, the Venoge festival, musics in summer festival, Milano latin festival among others.
From mellow, rich sounds to psychedelic improvisations, Mauricio masters a wide-range of musical styles.
PHILIPPE JENNI (guitar). With his training as a clarinetist, then as a guitarist at the crossroads of classical and jazz, Philippe brings lyrical melodies, through the warm and full sound of his Gibson L5, without denying the power of rhythm of his Fender Stratocaster. His playing is illustrated in the music he is particularly fond of, such as blues, jazz, but also Latin music - music that he knows how to enrich with colorful harmonies. Born in Geneva, Philippe obtained a certificate in classical guitar and studied jazz in parallel, notably at the Swiss Jazz School in Bern and at the AMR in Geneva. He plays and records with several jazz bands in the region, including the tentet Special Edition from 2000 to 2006, and since 2009 with the BBDR Big band and the Geneva Guitar Gang quintet as lead guitar. He performs regularly in concert, in various venues and festivals.
EDWIN SANZ (percussions). A multi-faceted artist, very comfortable in different musical styles, Edwin plays a wide variety of instruments such as congas, timbales, bongo, drums, cajon, djembe and many others.
Many Latin music fans are familiar with Edwin's many years of success as the conguero of the European band Mercadonegro, with whom Edwin continues to tour the Latin stages of the continent. In 2012, he travelled the world with Rodrigo & Gabriela as part of their Cuban project Area 52. In 2014, his band was named "Best Latin Band" at the Glastonbury Festival and the same year they worked the crowd at the Montreux Jazz Festival - both shows were part of a tour in support of his debut album "San Agustin". He has performed and recorded with a diverse set of world-renowned artists, including Adalberto Santiago, Africando, Gypsy Kings, Jose Alberto Canario, Isaac Delgado, Richie Ray & Bobby Cruz, and Malia, but it is his close relationship with his longtime friend, mentor, and collaborator, world music composer, producer, and pianist Alex Wilson, that has been integral to his transformation from immigrant session musician to European bandleader. Sanz blends his Venezuelan roots with European influences in an original work that draws on international musicians from diverse backgrounds. In doing so, he fosters a cultural exchange where cultures and experiences collide and grow. Edwin is the current percussionist of the world-renowned artist Steve Winwood.
DIMITRIOS CHRISTOPOULOS (Bass). Dimitris Christopoulos is a bass player and composer born in Athens Grecee. He started playing music at the age of twelve studying classical guitar and after four years he continued his studies with electric bass in Nakas Jazz Schoοl with the master Yotis Kiourtzoglou and double bass in Zografou Classical Schoοl with Kostas Koubelis.
After his graduation he starts to perform with many local jazz groups and Greek artists like Anna Vissi, Sakis Rouvas, Giannis Spanos.
In 2008 Dimitris joined the group Mercadonegro Orchestra and two times Grammy award nominee violinist Alfredo De La Fe.
He is currently working as a professional studio recording player, teacher and live performer touring with many jazz, pop, salsa and latin jazz projects like: Tito Nieves, Jerry Rivera, Jose Alberto el canario, Tony Succar,Mercadonegro, Alex Wilson, Malia, Pee Wee Ellis, Matt Bianco and many others.
