Biography
Nila Oak is a singer / musician and songwriter from a early age. After having been trained as a classical guitarist, she is then attracted by Indian classical music and especially by its rhythmic aspect through the tablas that she studies for 5 years in India. On her return to Europe in 2012, she begin to discover the folk picking of bluegrass through her friendship with the Genevan musician Pascal Gravante and from there, composes her repertoire of indie-folk songs that she records from 2015 to 2018 in his album Trails. Her songs have the particularity of being mainly composed in open-tuning. In 2021, Nila puts a stop to her long trips around the world and founds the Nila Oak band with musicians Yveline Schwab on violin/second voice and Stephane Fisch on double bass.
