Biography

California Rain is the latest of a series of projects by artist Mickey Mess (a.k.a Daniel Messerli) who emerged from the Hollywood music scene for the first time in 1985 with STAR STAR (reformed and is now performing as "SCREAM IDOL") - followed by the infamous local californian group "New Improved God", a hard driving punk group of the era was the first time attention fell on this multi-talented musician-songwriter. Working with Kent Jones from Atwater (CA). The conflicts with Disney Corp. however was a serious setback since the popular band logo was Mickey Mouse - crucified.
After Guns n Roses had been formed out of the two groups LA Guns and Hollywood Rose, other musicians from Hollywood Rose formed a new group named Bad Bones which Mickey Mess joined in late 1989. Talented singer Jimmy Swan, discovered by now famous Philipp Shappiro spearheaded the promising Led Zeppelin style group. Starting in 1991, Mickey Mess teamed up with famous ghost writer Ryan Rayston who supplied many Top 40 award winning artists (Prince, Stevie Wonder etc.) with her priceless lyrics. Together they started a secret production company called East 24th Street Music. Working with various artists from around the world, they have produced a catalog of titles in many different musical styles for consultation by artists searching for new matierial. This collaboration is still ongoing. Mickey Mess released a solo project under a new name, California Rain, after moving to Europe in 2003 where the unplugged album named California Rain, was a rather successful presentation of popular music in a slight avant garde style, omitting percussion instruments to drive the rhythm and to let the song become the rhythm by itself. This gave the "unplugged" album a truly unique feel and a welcome change to the endless drumming and hacking of our stressed out society. These older recordings are still available at https://mx3.ch.
Mickey Mess founded Mickey Mess Studios in 2015 where California Rain started recording more material. MIckey Mess also spearheads the cathedral metal band "Weighing of Souls". Mickey Mess and Mickey Mess Studios also released a new single called "Hold On" by "The Swan Mess Trust" which is a collaboration project of Mickey Mess and Jimmy Swan.
Mickey Mess Studios also had the privilege to co-produce, mix and master the new "Scream Idol" album released in 2021 where he teamed up with his old friends from formerly known STAR STAR where infamous Johnnie Holiday leads the regrouped three piece with Weeds on bass guitar and Jack on Drums.
Mickey Mess Studios also produced mixed and mastered the Montreux based swiss funk-rock-reggae group named "Clement Songe" EP and album released in 2020 and 2021.
