Biography
madnax is a universe formed in a cataclysmic event leading to a very particular alignment of particles that coincide serendipitously in both space and in time.
At its center of gravity, is American-Swiss duo (Nathan, Max). Constellations of satellite artists have been sucked into the universe, each taking to a unique, but entangled orbit. Collectively, they take full advantage of this blessed configuration and explore the shared roots of musical genres, blurring the boundary between the deep, entranced grooves of electronic music (house, techno, dub) and traditional music forms (pop, afroblues, R&B, baeleric, hip-hop, hispanic).
Nathan previously worked as a scientific researcher, obtaining a PhD in cognitive neuroscience with a thesis that investigated the cognitive mechanisms of brain-machine interfaces. He honed his techniques and poured his spirit into creating sonic waves as a member of Love Bunker. Max is the director of an event production and music management company and one of the founders of the Caprices music festival. His dance floor credentials include previous management of various international DJs while working for Cadenza Records.
With Swedish vocalist and electro-pop producer Pär Halje, madnax embraces their pop sensibilities. Before forming Love Bunker with Nathan, Pär was a notable influence on the Swedish synth scene. With puritan zeal, Pär strives to induce maximal head-bopping with minimal methods.
With Burkinabé multi-instrumentalist Djely, madnax mixes contemporary electronic scapes with African music (blues, chant, and percussion). Djely is a multi-instrumentalist and a creator of traditional African instruments. He has worked with several musical associations to help create a stronger link between Africa and the other continents by importing and teaching how to construct traditional African instruments.
With Iranian-Swiss actress sensation Nissa Kashani, madnax fuses sharp, poignant Farsi rap and beautiful Persian melodies into novel musical contexts.
With Balearic acoustic guitar duo Vagabundos de Lujo, madnax blends Russian Gypsy, Spanish, and Celtic music styles with contemporary electronic sounds.
