Biography
Nathaniel Jai Malik alias„Nathaniel J“, was born in 1987 in Brighton in the United Kingdom. When he was one month old, he moved to Switzerland with his parents, a British / Swiss mother born of German parents and a father of Chinese / Pakistani origin.
Already as a small boy Nathaniel enjoyed listening and singing along to all kinds of music styles and songs. He was a big fan of the POP world, especially of groups such as “The Backstreetboys”, “N`sync” and “The Spice Girls”.
With the passing of time his taste in music changed and evolved and he found new inspiration in the POP / R & B scene. Boys 2 Men, Blue, KC and Jo Jo, Justin Timberlake, are a few of the names which convinced Nathaniel that music would have to play a major role in his life.
During his apprenticeship as a retailer, he was soon confronted with all forms of media, lifestyle and entertainment interfaces. Being invited to sing at parties and events provided a gentle introduction to public exposure, something which gave him great satisfaction and pleasure. Spurred on by positive feedback and encouragement from his environment, together with an innate passion for music, he began writing his own texts and melodies.
Getting to know the well known Hip Hop producer “Jake Beatz” and the R&B singer and producer “Soul Cream” paved the way to Nathaniel being able to record and produce his songs in an easy and uncomplicated way. With each creative step, the spark of ambition grew, culminating ultimately in an EP of six tracks. Each track tells its own story, stories drawn on personal experiences.
The title of the CD is no coincidence. It has been born out of good times, sad times, inspiring times, some sweat and a few tears. But without the support and encouragement of family and friends, it wouldn’t have been born at all.
