Biography
Halfway Homebuoy are a Sydney based folk/ rock/ indie band who formed in the unlikely setting of the Swiss Alps. There are five members in the group, all of whom were bartenders in a Ski Resort town at the time they were established. Three of the members, Jack Davison (vocals), James Davison (guitar) and Christopher Burn (lead guitar), are from County Durham in the North East of England where the...y began playing the folk scene in the late 90's. After attempting start a band together under the name 'Auckland Rd', the three went separate ways until being reunited in Verbier, Switzerland. From Brugg (CH), Mike Irion (Drummer) joined the three Englishmen as they sought to continue with what they had began some eight years earlier. Not long after Nick 'pretty boy' Potter (AUS) then picked up a Bass for the first time and 'Halfway Homebuoy' began. Verbier was a great platform to begin playing for the five members having worked in most of the bars they were about to play. At the time this was made possible by another local rock band (the DIcktators) who would loan drumkits and PA's to help the band get things moving and offered some support gigs to boot. In 2010 Halfway Homebuoy entered Britains Largest band competition 'live and unsigned' where they would reach the last 100 of the 10,000 strong event. Encouraged by this and progress they had made in the 10 months leading towards this the band decided to concentrate more on music, which forced them to give up their night jobs and relocate to a city. Now in Sydney, Australia the band have now signed a publishing deal with Foghorn records and are currently awaiting the release of their first EP due in May 2011
