Biography

Billie Bird, named after an admired English traveller, is a woman who knows what she wants: to go into the inner depths of the human soul. Of French and Spanish origin, she grew up in Switzerland, in the tumult of a rather particular life. Her guitar accompanies a strong voice that sometimes comes from the head (hard) and sometimes from the gut (tight). Billie Bird sings in French, with telluric lyrics that speak of transfigured nights, of power relationships, but not only. She explores fears, doubts, sorrows, in deep lyrics that reveal buried, personal and universal feelings. In 2019, Billie Bird receives the "National Language" prize at the Swiss Live Talents Awards, awarded by an international jury of professionals, and is nominated one of the hundred personalities who make up French-speaking Switzerland by the newspaper "Le Temps". As for Les Inrocks, they are infatuated with La Nuit, the song of her return to French: "It's the kind of song we didn't see coming, and which we might not be able to forget any time soon." After opening for Benjamin Clementine, Piers Faccini, and Shannon Wright, Billie Bird is now performing at prestigious venues in Switzerland and abroad, including the Paléo Festival, the Montreux Jazz Academy, the MarocFolies, the Cully Jazz Festival, and soon at the Cigale in Paris, opening for Anne Paceo. The new album will be released in 2023.
