Biography

The pandemic has triggered many changes, both in the world around us and in how we move through it. Such processes are, at best, accompanied by introspection; knowing oneself, exploring one‘s inner self, looking critically at one‘s approach to the world, helps to find one‘s way in a confused universe. And this is exactly where Barock Rain comes in. The band has existed since 2022, but all members have already earned their spurs in other formations: The names Life- crusher, Suffer, Excoriated, and Fever Dreams, to name just a few, are certainly familiar to friends of hard guitar sounds in Switzerland. With Barock Rain, Gilles (drums), Dave (bass), Damian (lead guitar), Luc (rhythm guitar), Jan (synths) and Martin (vocals) turn to quieter, pop- pier, catchier sounds. In their wavy (old-)pop-rock, Barock Rain discuss the (Barock!) city of Solothurn with all its shady and sunny sides, life in this city, experiences that are inseparable from this corner of the world. Sometimes it sounds more straight-forward rock, sometimes more like meandering indie, but in any case, always bittersweetly melancholic. The music of Barock Rain takes you in like the smell of a warming cup of coffee in a café of a city you wanted to forget for a long time. Why you are here again, you don‘t know, and you want to cry, but it is still beautiful. This must be what it feels like to return to Solothurn.
