Biography
We are Ascéal, a folk metal band from Winterthur. We play folk metal, fusing Irish stories told by bagpipes & flutes with clashing riffs and mesmerizing female vocals! Founded in 2018, we worked for two years on completing the bands line-up and writing our first songs.
The name Ascéal is a combination of the Gallic words ‘a scéal’ which translates into ‘a story’, or 'telling a story'. Our unique story is not only told by our instruments, but also the legends and myths our songs are based on. Starting out with a lot of Irish influence to our tunes and lyrics, we ended up taking inspiration wherever we found it and tried enhance the feeling of a song instead of limiting ourselves.
Our current repertoire boasts a variety of self written songs, together with our interpretations of well known bands such as Epica, Nighwish or Eluveite.
Backed by a few small gigs in 2019, with three demos recorded and now online to watch, we are ready go public in 2020. So go listen to our demos and leave a like if you enjoyed it.
