Biography
Amanda Rakel is an up-and-coming singer-songwriter who refers to herself as a cultural mess. Born in Germany to a Danish mother and Swedish father, she grew up in Switzerland, and has since lived in London, New York and Copenhagen.
She released her debut single “Sweet Tongues” in 2015 and her EP “Soaked” in 2017. Like “Sweet Tongues”, the first single from the EP, “My God”, went onto be recommended on the Danish national radio’s online platform for up-and-coming artists: DR’s Karriere Kanonen (career canon). Since then, several of Amanda’s songs have been recommended on the platform.
In 2020, Amanda released six singles, introducing a more mainstream sound. Her first single, 'I Tried', was featured on Spotify’s New Music Friday Denmark, and her debut EDM-pop track, 'Magnetic', was named 'a true EDM hit' by Bands of Tomorrow and has over 200’000 streams on Spotify. Her last single of 2020, “& I Don’t Wanna Dance” went on to be played on radio stations in the UK, Germany, Portugal, Ireland and Belgium.
Amanda will release her second EP in 2021.
